New Machine!
We bought a new espresso machine. It is great! Stop in and get a latte. We are getting really good at our latte art. It is much easier when you have good steam power. Smooth!

Tamp!
Oh look it's me. Well the blog hasn't had any photos of me for a long time, if ever.
Andy and I went to Louisville, KY on Sunday the 11th. We took part in a barista Throwdown! at La Vida Java. This throwdown consists of making a latte with free poured art on top. Now, I am not the greatest at this feat, but I do like to try. More than anything I like hanging out with other coffee people. I learn something every time I get together with others in the business.
So, come on in and see if our latte art is any better. I think it is.
Cheers!

And now for a lovely bit of luck............
I got a call on Monday, would I do a catering for Tuesday? I almost said no, well at first I did say no. It was for 60 and I thought they were talking lunch. No they just needed a morning snack with coffee, tea and hot cider. Ok. Delivered to the airport at 10AM, Ok. Who is this for, I ask?
We need to have something for the press and staff when they get in town with Obama.
I did not drop the phone.
I said yes of course I can do this.
I baked all day Monday and into the night. You know I just have a small oven.
Well here is what I took to the airport for the President Elect and his entourage.
Mini muffins, scones, granola, yogurt, and fruit took care of the food.
The hot drinks were Fair Trade Organic coffees, 1 Guatemalan and 1 Timor, Kenyan tea, and hot apple cider from our local orchard.
So there you have it, my brush with politics and fame!
Cheers and here is to the next 4 years, may they be Great!

Andy goes to the "Big City"
Hey all, well my pal Andy went to the big barista jam in Chicago last week-end. Here is a photo of some of the jammers first thing Saturday morning. I am sure the were more lively later in the day. Mass amounts of caffine were consumed. I mean if you are going to hang out in a great roastery like Intelligentsia and play with coffee all day what do you expect!
I had to miss this blessed event, but just ask Andy about it. He had a great time and learned a lot of great stuff!

How I spent my Sunday....
I went to Louisville, KY with Sandy and Anita who were judges for the State Fair Beer Competition. I took the car and headed over to a coffee shop called Ray's Monkey House. The owner/roaster Nimbus invited me to hang out with him at a local farmers market.
I enjoyed talking with him about business and about how his coffee shop recyles and composts.
I also visited Sunergos Coffee. Both Ray's and Sunergos are roaster/retailers. Both places had a respectable shot of espresso.
If you are ever in Louisville, be sure to try the coffees from these fine shops.

Espresso!
The Harvest Cafe Espresso blend will be on the bar by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. Going off will be the Higher Grounds espresso blend. Still on for a week Julian Espresso Crema.
The next roaster I plan to order from is Metropolis Coffee out of Chicago. I may be using another blend of theirs for espresso, as my machine does not run hot enough for their espresso blend.
I had a pot of the Metropolis Mocha Java blend it was awesome, I also really enjoyed their Rwanda and Tanzania Peaberry. So, bean buyers get ready for some great coffees you will need to take home!
